Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 13 September 2013

On Tuesday Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Coward took eight Year 6 children to Marland Hill Primary School for our first Community Cohesion session. Throughout the course of the year the following children will be working closely with pupils from Marland Hill and Rochdale College as Community Ambassadors. These children are: Anis, Shareef, Zia, Sohair, Rianah, Ayesha, and Shehzeeda & Anisha.

The aim of the project is to further develop speaking and listening and pupil voice within the context of Community Cohesion. The children were an absolute credit to us and we are all looking forward to working collaboratively with friends from contrasting communities.

The Community Cohesion Group were also awarded the Citizens of the week for being excellent ambassadors during the visit to Marland Hill Primary School.

Throughout the week our children have been feeding back during assemblies from our Autumn 1 Teaching and Learning morning: The behaviour and safety of our pupils at our school. As you know, our children regularly get the opportunity to support school improvement and self evaluation linked to Ofsted judgments and the School Improvement Plan. It has been fantastic to get such overwhelmingly positive feedback and examples linked to how safe our children feel in school and the systems that support this. It is also brilliant for us as a staff to be able to consider our children’s ideas about how we can make things even better in school knowing that, as a school community we must continue to respect each other and work in the knowledge that every problem has a solution!

Our children have started the new academic year looking very smart in their school uniforms. We would remind all Parents/Carers that it is very important that you put your child’s name in all of their clothing as we have already had coats and jumpers going astray with no way of checking who they belong to!

In addition a reminder that we would like all children to wear a PE kit which includes black shorts, black jogging bottoms, black games skirt, white t-shirt and black pumps.

A reminder that dinner money is now £9.50 per week. Thank you.
