Road closed due to accident in Heywood

A man has been seriously injured in a road traffic accident this morning (Friday 4 April) in Heywood on Manchester Road close to the junction with Coronation Avenue. Manchester Road (A6045) is closed in both directions and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Shortly after 7.05 am police were called to Coronation Avenue, Heywood, following reports a Vauxhall Astra had collided with a skip wagon.
Police attended and found the driver of the Astra, believed to be in his 20s, with serious injuries. He was taken to Fairfield Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
