Three men had to be located and rescued by a police helicopter after getting lost on the Rochdale moors after their car had broken down.
The men, thought to be in their mid-20s, had had been off road driving when their vehicle became bogged down and could not be moved in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 7 July).
The men had been driving a 4x4 up to Rooley Moor, north of Rochdale.
Police received a call for help at 1.30 am after the men had been walking for two hours to find the nearest road but could not find their way back to the car.
The helicopter located them and directed a patrol car to their position who then took the men to the nearest taxi rank.
All three were uninjured but were said to be wet and tired.
