Put the barbecue away!

Locals hoping for a long hot summer, complete with weekends spent lazing in the sun and enjoying barbecues are about to have those dreams washed away, as storms approach Rochdale this weekend.

The Met Office has warned that many parts of the UK, including Rochdale, can expect to see heavy showers this weekend.

Saturday will start cloudy before rain sweeps into Rochdale mid-afternoon. Sunday sees heavy, thundery showers with intermitent bright spells.

Temperatures are expected to be lower than recently but it will still feel warm during sunny spells.
