Pupils look forward to newly-completed school

Date published: 25 June 2013

Students and staff at Kingsway Park High School are relishing the prospect of moving into their newly-completed school.

The £13 million scheme has seen the school totally revamped with over half of the existing buildings being demolished to make way for a new two storey building at the front of the site.

There are new student and visitors’ entrances, new teaching facilities for art, drama and music, a specialist business/IT suite and a science demonstration area.

Alongside the new facilities, the retained teaching blocks have also been given a new lease of life to create a seamless flow across the school.

The facilities have been designed to be low-carbon and to reduce energy use through the installation of high performance windows and high efficiency lighting.

The sports facilities are also being enhanced with a new all-weather pitch, which is due to be completed in early July.

Headteacher Deborah Ball said: “It’s incredible what has been achieved in such a short space of time.

"As a new school, we were committed from the very start to creating a school building that reflected our approach of ‘Aiming High and Achieving Excellence’.

“With results improving every year, we are looking forward to the progress that can now be made in this fantastic new facility.”

Cllr Donna Martin, cabinet member for children, schools and families, said: “The new Kingsway Park High School buildings are fantastic, with some very impressive teaching facilities.
