Oulder Hill School

The annual Not Strictly Eurovision contest took place on Thursday 13 June, and was once again a roaring success. Over 200 students aged from six to 11 years old from 11 local primary schools performed in front of a packed-out Gracie Fields Theatre.

All the children were amazing, with special congratulations to our top-three placed schools: 3rd – Norden Primary, 2nd – Holy Trinity CE Primary and our winners Our Lady and St Paul’s R.C. Primary, who performed in Spanish to Mambo Numero Cinco. We look forward to hosting the event next year, and welcoming back our winners and runners-up.

“Outstanding”, “Exceptional” and “Spectacular” just a few reviews from the Year 5s on another successful Year 5 Maths Day.

This year the theme was the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Teams from seven primary schools worked together on five events throughout a mathematical pentathlon.

This involved javelin making, planning trips to the games and helping with the logistics of a weightlifting challenge. All pupils left enlightened having experienced competitiveness through Functional Maths.

The gold medal winners were Caldershaw for the second year running with 42.5 points who won all events bar one. The students from Caldershaw School who won were Hiba Javed, Maxx Wright, Ryan Marshall and Raza Hassan. Second and third place went to St Michael’s and Shawclough respectively.

The Year 11 leavers assembly will be taking place on Wednesday 26 June from 9am to 10am and their leavers prom will be held at the Riverside, Whitworth on Thursday 27 June from 7pm to 11:30pm.

The final GCSE exam is on Monday 24 June, all our students have worked extremely hard and we look forward to sharing their results with them on Thursday 22 August. The Year 11 results are available from 9.30am to 11am and the Year 10 results from 11.30am to 1pm.

Due to Regional Industrial Action by teaching Unions unfortunately the school will be closed on Thursday 27 June. The school will also be closed to all Oulder Hill students on Friday 28 June due to an inset day during which Year 5 students from our local primary schools will participate in the Year 5 day. The students will return to school as normal on Monday 1 July.
