Winners of the Hopwood Hall College, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learner’s ‘You’re Hired!’ competition collected their prizes this week.
The College learners took part in a special project to promote job application and interview skills. They completed application forms for jobs of their choice advertised by the College and undertook interviews with members of the Human Resources team to simulate the pressure and experience of a real life job interview.
The students spent three weeks preparing their job application letters, practising relevant language, presentation and social skills, and strategies for explaining personal qualities, academic qualifications and work experience.
Over 60 students took part, resulting in two overall winners, Bianca Cappai and Imane El-Haloui. Each received £20 shopping vouchers. In addition, there were three runners up - Danilson Dos Santos, Ivanilson Nassana and Zygimantas Buseika.
Human Resources Advisor, Martyn Hardy said: “The project provided a near authentic job interview experience which was designed to give learners confidence in the transition from study to work. We were impressed with their appearance and attitude, they were extremely professional.”
