Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 07 May 2013

Recently, ten of our Year 3 children represented our school at the IPLCN Dance Festival at Marland Hill Primary School. Our children performed their dance routine to “Livin La Vida Loca” for the other schools in our network – they did us all proud! . Thank you to Miss Wild for coaching the children and also to Mrs Coward for attending the event to support the dancers.

The Dance group have also been awarded the Citizens of the week for the week ending 3 May 2013 for being a credit to school and for their enthusiastic performance. Well Done!

As we fast approach the Year 6 Sats tests it has been great to see the uptake of both the before and after school additional booster sessions. Please could we remind parents dropping children off that cars need to come onto the school car park. A number of cars are stopping immediately as you turn into Calder Street causing the dangerous situation of traffic blocking the road from the busy dual carriageway. In addition, please could we remind you that there is no right turn from Calder Street out onto the exit road. Cars are required to come into the car park to turn around safely. Thank you.

It is great to see the commitment of parents on a Friday morning in the Parent Classes. It is so important to us that parents are engaging with the school to further develop their own skills which will support the children’ s learning at home . At present, parents are working on how to support their children with fractions and symmetry. Thank you in particular to Mrs Coward who is constantly looking at further ways to support and engage our parents.

Well done to all the Hamer Stars of the Week for week ending 3 May 2013 they are:
