St. Joseph’s Penny (Caritas)
The total raised for St. Joseph’s Penny was £498.18p. Of this amount, £41.23p was raised by Saif, Bushra and Iqra, who ran their own innovative fundraising events.

Update on Harar This week, operations to correct facial disfigurements are going ahead.

Nurse Ann e-mailed the school to say that Professor Mark and his team of surgeons will be bringing the smile back to 14 young people’s faces.

How amazing is that? Well done and thank you.

FAST Works Club
In response to the success of the FAST Club, parents will run FAST Works once a month with support from St. John’s staff.

FAST Works is open to all families who attended and completed the FAST programme.

The first meeting was held on Wednesday 24 April to plan the calendar - more details will follow in next week’s newsletter.

St. John’s parishioners visit the school
St. John’s parishioners were invited to our school on Friday 26 April. They were welcomed by our children who provided refreshments and entertainment before giving a guided tour of the school.

Golden book awards
The Golden Book awards are for children have tried their best in all areas with politeness and respect.

Foundation 2: Rida and Fabian
Reception/1: Olivia and Aliya
Class 1: Vianney and Jessica
Class 2: Zakir and Grace
Class 3: Chenelle and Caleb
Class 4: Carlos and Dylan
Class 5: Nimra and Hajira
Class 6: Mununga and Abdul

Highest attendance award went to Class 2.

Attendance
Children must attend school each day unless a valid reason can be given.

The school must be informed of absences on a daily basis.

Please note that it is illegal to take children out of school during term time.

Children missing school could be liable to court action.

Church news
Car boot sale

Saturday 4th May, starting 7.30am onwards on St. John’s Church and School Car Park

Refreshments available, free entrance.

Why not sell your unwanted items - £8.00 per vehicle (proceeds to the building fund).

Mass times: Saturday 12 noon and 5.30pm; Sunday 9.30pm.

Whilst Father Chris is recovering, the priests from the Deanery and Father Fulop will be covering the Masses and Services.
