Falinge Park High School

Our Dance Show, ‘Fast Forward’ took place this week and proved to be a tremendous success. Well done to all the learners who took part and the dancers were a credit to both the school and themselves. The quality of practical work was consistently high throughout the show.

We have recently been successful in our application to work with Oldham Coliseum in a project funded by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. Fifteen of our Year 9 BTEC Drama students will be working on the initiative in the forthcoming weeks. For more details about the project, please contact Mr. Mvula.

A theatre visit to see ‘A Doll’s House’ at The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester has been organised in May for BTEC Drama and Performing Arts students. For more details or for a letter for the visit, please contact Mr. Mvula. The theatre visit backstage tour is also planned before the show.

Ms Wystawnoha has been offering staff training to primary teachers this week based on aspects of our recently successful ‘Project Hugo’ initiative which took place prior to the spring holidays. For more details contact school and speak to Ms. Wystawnoha directly.

Letters for our Local History Walk have been issued this week to learners in Year 7. The walk takes place in July and reply forms should be sent directly to Mr. De Courcey in the CEPA Office.

We are asking for donations of the following items to help in our forthcoming C.A.L.L. ‘New Ghosts’ project. If you have any newspapers, wallpaper or plant pots that you no longer need then we would be grateful for them. Please send all donations for the attention of Mr. Ahmed in the CEPA Office.

Thanks to the Year 7 C.A.L.L. Learners who helped with gardening tasks for our ‘Poetry Garden’ that is currently being built. Learners gave up time after school on Friday to help with weeding, tidying and ground clearance. There will be more sessions in the forthcoming weeks. For more details, see Mr. De Courcey.

Learners who attend the forthcoming C.A.L.L. Visit to Leeds City Museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park in May can win themselves one of two great prizes for the best visit booklets. Two limited edition ‘Natural Beauty’ prints have been bought for the best two entries in the ‘K’ and ‘F’ cohorts. For more details, see your C.A.L.L. teacher.

The exam season is almost upon us and students are reminded to inform their parents if they intend to stay for revision classes or other coursework sessions. Students should also ensure that they leave school promptly after these sessions for safety reasons.
