Well done to Haseeb Bhatti, Umar Akhtar, Tubha Hamid and Emma O’Rourke for their recent achievements with the ‘Have Your Say’ CALL project. Learners took away one of four topics and researched and prepared a two minute formal speech which they then recorded over the holiday period. Each of the learners has received a certificate and a prize for their success.

Many thanks to the learners in Years 10 and 11 who attended a range of revision sessions and workshops over the holiday period. We hope that your hard work and dedication pay off in the final results you achieve. Thanks also to students for their prompt arrival to such sessions.

Money for the Edinburgh CEPA Visit such now be in to Mr De Courcey as soon as possible. A special meeting will be held in the next few weeks to provide further details of the visit and to answer any questions that parents and students may have.

The final deadline for the payment for the CALL visit to Leeds City Museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park is Friday 26 of April and we ask that all letters and monies are returned before this date. The visit to the two locations takes place on Tuesday the 7th of May for the ‘F’ Cohort and the 14th of May for the ‘K’ Cohort. For more details, Year 7 learners should speak to their CALL teachers.

We are delighted to welcome ‘Tracing Steps’ Theatre Company into school this week as they work with Ms Wystawnoha’s CALL class on a performance piece around a current personal, social and health education issue. The final performance will be showcased to students at Siddal Moor. The work will take place over the next few weeks in specific CALL lessons.

We hope that parents and friends of the school were able to visit our special ‘Project Hugo’ exhibition at Touchstones, Rochdale over the holiday period. A special exhibition of learner work from the five schools involved in the project was put on display over Easter. Many thanks to those who came along to see the work.

Many thanks to the learners of Holy Trinity Primary School who attended a special workshop titled ‘Using The I-pad To Create Drama’ this week. The Year 4 and 5 learners used the I-pads to look at the ‘Akaneiro’ story app and then create physical theatre pieces. Each learner left with a certificate and a badge.

Tickets for our ‘Fast Forward’ Dance Show which takes place on Thursday 26 of April are available from the CEPA Office at breaktimes, lunchtimes or after school. Tickets are only available in advance directly from school and are priced at £3.00 (no concs.). For more details, please contact Ms Wystawnoha.

The School Photographer has been in school this week to photograph Year 8 learners. For more details, please contact Ms Gater.
