The latest meeting of the Middleton Community Forum agreed to set up a Community Forum Committee to discuss organising joint fund raising events and to develop networking opportunities.

A spokesperson said: “Working together will make us stronger as individual groups.”

Middleton Rotary inducted a new member, Emma Buckley, who was formerly a member of the Rochdale club before being appointed National Manager for Laura Ashley in France. After a couple of years of heavy responsibility in Paris, she returned to the UK to pursue her other vocational interest and to train as a maths teacher.

Emma has a particular interest in helping children with learning difficulties and will be working with the Vocational Team, but Emma will also be supporting our education projects internationally, Mikoroshoni Primary School, Mombasa, Kenya etc.

On Easter Monday Middleton Rotary and the Easter Bunny brought smiles to the faces of both children and adults alike, on what was a very cold day, while they were collect for local community groups at Sainsbury's. Children of all ages were attracted by the 'friendly' Rabbit and many photos were taken by parents.

For the Rotary Club's members and friends collecting that day, it was a chance to enjoy a friendly chat with many children and adults and to let people know that their donations were going to support local community groups and local charities.

During the 6 hours of collecting Sainsbury's customers very generously donated £295.18.

Middleton Community Forum’s aim is to assist groups and organisations to work together, to help, support, encourage and for Rotary members to provide practical help and back-up skills e.g. bookkeeping; project management; legal / organisational help and advice; promotion of themselves and their events, etc. and funding where appropriate.

The next meeting of the Middleton Community Forum will be on Sunday 28 April at Middleton Popstars Academy, Morton Street, Middleton when a new committee will be formed.

All community groups in the Middleton Area are welcome to attend.
