Primary Care Trust launches Mission Equality

Date published: 18 March 2008

Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust, (HMRPCT) is launching a series of equality themed events next month, to engage local people in developing its equality and diversity strategy.

Named ‘Mission Equality’, the events are open to everybody across the Borough of Rochdale. Through presentations and interactive workshops, the events will explore the role of the PCT, ways in which the PCT can engage with diverse community groups and update on progress in relation to its race, disability and gender equality schemes.

Samina Arfan, Equality and Diversity Manager at the PCT, said: “We want to have a real ‘hands on’ approach with the local public to develop our equality and diversity strategy. By involving and consulting with as many people as possible, we will be able to come up with ideas that are relevant and tailored to our diverse community groups.

“A core principle of the PCT is to reduce inequalities and keep issues of equality and diversity at the heart of its work, so establishing and maintaining strong communication links with the local population is vital to achieving this.”

To make sure as many people as possible can attend, there are a number of events and venues to choose from. All events start at 10am and finish at 2pm:

  • 8 April- Rochdale Centre of Diversity, Deen House, Station Road, Rochdale.
  • 16 April- Heywood Civic Centre, Wood Street, Heywood.
  • 24 April- Middleton Masonic Lodge, Manchester Old Road, Middleton.
  • 28 April- Rochdale and District Disability Action Group (RADDAG), 3-5 Summer Street, Rochdale.
  • 1 May- St Andrews Church, Smith Street, Rochdale.
