Hamer Community Primary School

On Friday 15 March some of our parents enjoyed a visit to the new Rochdale Library. During the visit parents were presented with certificates and a mug for achieving the 'Six Book Challenge'.

Ray Stearn at the Library worked with the parents on Book Spine Poetry and Mrs Coward our Pastoral Manager said, the visit very successful and everyone was impressed with the new Library, friendly atmosphere and the supportive staff.

Thank you so for all the support on Friday Comic Relief/Red Nose Day for dressing the children up for and doing ‘something funny for money’.’ It was brilliant to see our Foundation children all dressed in red, KS1 and Lower KS2 all in their pyjama’s (some with teddies!) and UKS2 as pirates and princesses. Thank you also to all the staff that joined in with the spirit of the day, dressing up and raising money for those less fortunate than ourselves.

The joint winners of the Citizens of the week for week ending Friday 15 March are Miss Kenworthy, Miss Beech and Miss Nicholson’s classes for successfully rearing the chickens, feeding them, giving them water and looking after them. Well Done.

Thank you for all your support at the end of February with the Bags 2 School Appeal. Your collective efforts raised £260 for the Charity. Thanks to Miss Mills for organising this on behalf of school. We will be doing another Bags 2 School event sometime in June so please keep your unwanted items till then.

The children in both Mrs Smith’s and Mrs Connolly’s classes represented school at the Rochdale Music Festival this week. They performed on Tuesday morning at the Town Hall. It was great to see our Chair of Governors Shasta Bi and numerous other parents supporting us in the audience. Choral speakers performed on Sunday 17 March. Specific details will be sent to those children involved separately. In addition, the children in Miss Kenworthy’s and Miss Nicholson’s class will be singing and representing our school next week. We wish them all lots of luck!

All our children enjoyed on Thursday 14 March in our school hall a joint school “Sing Up” event with Alice Ingham RC Primary School.

Also on Thursday, parents were invited to the Foundation Stage Unit to celebrate the children’s achievements. They looked around the unit and at the children’s books. They had the opportunity to talk to their child about what they had been learning and discuss their child’s progress across the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum with the teachers.

The staff would like to thank the parents for attending and we look forward to seeing them again at our Parent’s Maths workshop which will be on Monday 18th March from 3.30pm and also the parents consultations which will be in the next few days.
