Remembrance Service: Honouring our fallen heroes

Date published: 10 November 2012

Residents have the chance to pay their respects to those who have given their lives in defence of the country at this year’s Remembrance Service in Rochdale.

Organisations taking part in the annual parade will assemble in Mere Street at 10.15am and set off for the Cenotaph via Drake Street at 10.30am.

The Mayor, Councillor James Gartside, councillors, officers, magistrates, church leaders and other guests will leave the Town Hall at 10.50am for the service at the Cenotaph.

Members of the public are invited to attend as Rochdale shows its gratitude to service men and women down the decades.

The Mayor said: “Of all the events during my year in office none is more important or moving than the Remembrance Service.

“The current conflict in Afghanistan is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices our armed forces continue to make in order to preserve our freedom and I hope as many people as possible will join us for the ceremony.”
