Langley Children’s Centre celebrates the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Over 300 children and families came along to Truffet Park to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

This event was organised by Langley Children’s Centre working in partnership with Pat Donald and ‘The Friends of Truffet Park’ and many other community organisations.

There were many activities on offer such as soldier making, biscuit decorating, face painting, story telling, nature walks and an opportunity to visit the doorstop bus.

This was a great event not only to celebrate 60 years of the Queen but also to celebrate the International Year of Co-operatives. Staff from the children’s centre worked within the green flag park with local early years providers including Burnside play group, Bowlee park school and local childminders along with the park rangers, riverside wardens, library service and the community police.

Everybody pulled together to make the event a success resulting in positive feedback from parents and a renewed community spirit for all involved.

Centre manager Cheryl Boardman said: “I would like to thank everyone for their involvement with the event, without everyone pulling together it would not have been possible. We were overwhelmed by the amount of families and children who attended the event, it made it all worthwhile.”
