Springside Special School Jubilee Party
Date published: 01 June 2012
Children from Springside and Hamer School celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee in style.
All children and staff dressed in red, white and blue. The children were encouraged to make their own party hats, placemats, bunting flags and bookmarks.
They shared their achievements during the joint street party held in the sensory garden.
Children ate the same types of food as those in 1952, such as Coronation chicken, cucumber sandwiches and Victoria sponge cake, whilst listening to big band music from the same era.
Shazye Cosar said: "Everyone had lots of fun and smiles were had by all."
In the afternoon the children from both schools enjoyed a disco, Ms Cosar added: "the atmosphere was electric".
