Golden Jubilee afternoon tea
Date published: 21 May 2012
A Golden Jubilee afternoon tea party at St Andrew's, the parish church of Dearnley and Smithy Bridge in Littleborough, held on Saturday 19 May was a sell-out that raised more than £500 for church funds.
Susan Knight (church warden), who organised the red-white-and-blue party with her team of eager volunteers, said: "It was well supported and everyone enjoyed the occasion from the moment we stood for the National Anthem until home time.
"Background music was supplied by our church organist, David Wright, and our thanks go to him, and to everyone who attended and to everyone else who assisted on the day."
The church was adorned with red, white and blue bunting that had been lovingly cared for by Susan and her family since it was first used to celebrate VE Day when she was a little girl growing up in Coventry.
