Send a Jubilee card to the Queen

Date published: 18 May 2012

The Rotary Club of Middleton is holding a competition for the children of Middleton to design a card they might want to send to The Queen on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee.

Janice Powell of The Rotary Club of Middleton said: “The aim is to try and get Middleton children engaged in the Royal Jubilee celebrations and we thought that designing a card would give them all an opportunity to show off their artistic talents. It will also produce something which can then be sent on to the Queen herself and hopefully give the children who take part a sense of achievement.

"We are also constantly striving to build the Club’s involvement with the community and to demonstrate what Rotary is about.”

The competition is being organised in partnership with Sainsbury’s at Heaton Park and is for children between the ages of 4 and 14. Prizes will be awarded in three age groups: 4 – 7, 8-11 and 12-14.

Entries should preferably be an A5 size card, hand drawn and coloured (no digital images or computer generated designs please). Finished cards should be handed in to the Customer Service Desk in Sainsbury’s, Heaton Park by Saturday 2 June.

All of the cards will be displayed in the entrance Foyer of the store and the winning entries will be announced on Tuesday 5 June at 1.00pm.

Winning entries will be sent to The Palace, as will the best of the rest.
