Former Falinge High School pupil, Ruth Shore-Molyneux, will be trekking to Everest Base Camp in June to raise funds for Childreach International.
Ruth is hosting a fund-raising lunch at 11.45am on Saturday 28 April at Rochdale Unitarian Church.
The trek will take 18 long, challenging days, visiting a Buddhist retreat and some of the Childreach International projects along the way. Childreach work in partnership with local communities to help improve children's access to healthcare, education and human rights and protection. There are projects in India, Nepal, Pakistan, Tanzania, Occupied Palestinian territories, Cambodia, Peru, China and Bangladesh.
Ruth says, "It will be an amazingly unique trip taking me through some of the Himalayas' most impressive valleys and witnessing some fantastic views. It will be a tough climb but definitely worth it and is such a great way to raise money. Some of the money goes towards my expenses, but most of it does go to a great cause!! So please, please, please help me to raise money to give the children a better life!"
Tickets (£8) for the lunch are available from Margaret (360883) or Helen (07714 753226).
If you can't make the lunch, please think about sponsoring Ruth online by visiting her fund-raising page:
