Help influence the borough’s future
Date published: 20 April 2012
Residents are being encouraged to ensure they use their right to vote in the local elections being held on Thursday 3 May, and if they have a postal vote to return it immediately.
Elections to Rochdale Borough Council will be held in all 20 of the borough’s wards.
Polling stations will be open across the borough from 7am until 10pm.
Returning Officer Linda Fisher says it is important to have a say on important issues that affect the place where you live and work:
“The council has a vast range of responsibilities and makes decisions which affect your everyday life. I just want to remind people of the value of democracy that we sometimes take for granted. I hope people will take the time to vote on Thursday 3 May and have their say."
On the run up to 3 May, the council’s election team will be busy processing postal votes and applications, organising over one hundred polling stations as well as preparing for the count itself.
