England Ashes winning captain guest of honour

Date published: 13 April 2012

Former England Ashes winning captain, Michael Vaughan was guest of honour at a charity dinner at the Norton Grange Hotel organised by Rochdale Rotary Club.

He spoke of his many cricket moments with humorous tales of his contacts with people like Geoffrey Boycott and Steve Harmison.

The evening was enhanced by Test Match special statistician Malcolm Ashton, who was MC, and Terri Cotta the comedian, who had the 180 guests rocking in the aisles.

Former Test Match umpire from Rochdale, Rotarian John Holder thanked Michael for giving up his time for free to generate money to promote coaching of amateur cricketers in Rochdale.

A cheque for £2,500 was given to Bobby Denning of Lancashire Cricket Board at a club meeting and he thanked the club for helping to secure more coaching time for Rochdale Cricketers.
