Appeal to identify indecent assault suspect

CCTV of a boy wanted in connection with an indecent assault

Police have issued an image of a boy they want to speak to in connection with an indecent assault on a teenage girl.

It took place at around 4.45pm on Tuesday 13 March when a lone 15 year-old girl was standing at a bus stop on Rochdale Road. She was approached by the offender who was on a bicycle. He then indecently assaulted her.

The victim was not physically injured in the attack, but left upset by what happened.

Officers have now issued a CCTV still taken from a bus in the area where the offence happened.

The suspect is described as Asian and aged between 14 and 16.

Detective Constable Janice Cruttwell, of Rochdale CID, said: "We have made a large number of inquiries since this happened, but we have yet to be given that piece of information which will help us catch the offender.

"We have now obtained a decent image from the CCTV from a passing bus. I want people to take a good look and let me know if you know the person in the image.

This incident caused some concern in the community but I am confident that the answers to this person's identity lie within the community.
