A member of NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale’s (HMR) Patient Experience and Engagement team was selected as the winner of the Trust’s most recent Going for Gold Stars awards.

Nicola Crosby, Patient and Public Involvement Lead for NHS HMR won the award for her engagement work on the recent consultation around proposals to improve services for heart and stroke patients in the North East sector of Greater Manchester.

On winning the award Ms Crosby said: “It was a lovely surprise to find out that I had won the Going for Gold Stars award. To know that my colleagues had taken the time to nominate me for the work I had done around the public consultation is really gratifying, and I was very proud to accept the award."

Lisa Stack, Deputy Programme Director who nominated Nicola on behalf of the Healthy Futures Delivery Unit said:

“Nicola continuously strives to look for innovative approaches to engagement and her open and approachable manner ensures honest and frank engagement with patients and the public. She is always willing to give everything to a project and takes pride in her work. She is never too busy to offer support or advice to colleagues and is committed to ensuring patients and members of the public are integral to any decision making related to health services. Her contribution to the consultation was invaluable.”

Going for Gold Stars is a quarterly awards scheme that has been developed by NHS HMR to recognise staff who provide an outstanding service or go the extra mile. The awards are nominated and judged by staff working within the Trust.
