Hopwood Hall College’s Image (Beauty) department ran a competition this month to determine which of their talented students will be entered into the national WorldSkills UK Competitions.
The winners:
- Beauty Therapy Advanced - Sarah Hodgkinson/Victoria Jackson/Rachel Bottomley
- Beauty Therapy Intermediate - Bianca Stanway/Stacy Nicholls/Katharine Doyle
- Media Make Up - Elysa taylor/Rebekah Walsh/Natalie McGrath
- Nail Art - Anam Javid
21 students attended the College competition in March.
The competition involved each of the students carrying out a treatment in their respective categories and being scored on their performance by staff.
Tutor Becki Bork said, “This was an extremely difficult competition with all entries demonstrating very high standard of professionalism. Every student who took part today received a certificate of participation.”
These winners have now been entered into the UK Skills Competition to represent Hopwood Hall College.
WorldSkills UK is a portfolio of skills competitions activity managed by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with organisations from industry and education.
The competitions are designed to raise participation, esteem and standards in apprenticeships and vocational training. Outstanding competitors, aged 18–25, who excel in WorldSkills UK Competitions will be invited to compete for a place in the team that represents the UK at WorldSkills, the biennial international skills competition.
Each College is only allowed to enter 3 students per category; Hopwood Hall College therefore ran competitions to determine which 3 students they would enter into the 4 beauty-related categories for UK Skills this year.
