Bazaar held first time in Rochdale on Pakistan Day

Pakistan Bazaar was held on Pakistan Day, 23 March,2012, at Castlemere Community Centrein which thousands people attended. Stalls of food, clothes, toys and information on a variety of topics were displayed. Various charities had stalls.
A large number attended including Simon Danczuk, Member of Parliament for Rochdale, Councillor Karen Burke, and leaders of the local communities.
Simon Danczuk said: "I am very impressed with the attendance of the local residents. Such events bring people together and promote services provided by various organistions and the businesses in the area."
Ghulam Rasul Shahzad, OBE JP, Chairman Action for Pakistan International, who is also member of the Management Committee of the Castlemere Community Centre, said; "I am very pleased with the success of the Pakistan Bazaar as it attracted thousands of people, particularly women and children who came to buy things of their choice." He added: "Events like this would help to boost businesses in the area. Rochdale has been affected by the recent economical recession. Milkstone & Deeplish Area is a deprived area within the Borough of Rochdale. Activities like Pakistan Bazaar will not only bring the communities together but also improve and develop businesses in the area."
Mr Shazad said we would continue to organise events like this in future. He thanked everyone who participated.
