This week’s theme was ‘Service to God’ and our Enterprise capability was self belief. This half-term’s focus for Year 7 is creativity & innovation.

The Olympic Relay Torch of Prayer arrived in school on Tuesday, brought to us by representatives from Cardinal Langley RC High. The torch was placed on the alter in the chapel for the morning and was then taken to Saints Aiden and Oswald’s RC Primary in Royton. Thank you to all the pupils and teachers who were involved in performing the Haka and creating masks, posters and banners for the ceremony.

Year 10 students enjoyed a performance of Ganging Up by GW Theatre Company on Friday and The Stations of the Cross are up in school for classes, small groups and individuals to walk the journey. Four representatives from the EAL lunchtime club took a cheque for £100 to the RSPCA. Mrs Armstrong helped students raise money for the charity.

Attendance Challenge - Well done form 7.1 with a weekly attendance of 99%. ‘You have to be in to win’ - Congratulations to Keane Mahon, form 7.7. Students from all year groups have been busy organising fundraising events for the various Lenten charities. Sponsored events and activities such as cake sales and car washing have been taking place all week and we still have many more events planned for the remaining weeks in school before Easter. Year 7 alone have raised £1136 so far. Special thanks to Miss Abbott, form teacher of 7.9, who is donating all her sponsorship money from doing the Liverpool half marathon to the Year 7’s chosen charity, Francis House. We also have a sponsored activity taking place and our very own Year 7 form tutor Mr Lockett will be competing in the London marathon to also raise money.

Year 11 booster sessions in English and Maths take place each Tuesday and Thursday after school. Homework club is open every day at 1.30 in L3 with Mrs Whitmore and Mrs Rushton.

The facilities in our Partnership Learning Centre are available for parents and for any Parish Groups who wish to produce resources for church or develop their own learning. Please speak to Mrs Moore for details (01706 647761) .
