A small number of the EDL splinter group, the 'Infidels' were causing trouble in Heywood on Saturday after their planned demonstration in Bolton fell flat due to a distinct lack of numbers.
Infidel leader John “Snowy” Shaw had issued a public statement saying that he was planning to go to Bolton, but he was actually in Heywood.
Council Leader Colin Lambert reacted angrily to the drunken trouble makers and said he has "had enough" and is "fed up of these right wing groups disrupting businesses in Heywood."
Greater Manchester Police said: "GMP respects everyone's right to a protest, but at the same time we have to balance this with the concerns of people in our local communities."
