Pensioner taken to hospital after breathing in smoke
Date published: 22 March 2012
A pensioner was taken to hospital after breathing in smoke when she left a pan of hot fat unattended on a cooker.
Crews from Rochdale Fire Station were called to Derrick Walker Court sheltered housing flats in Manchester Road, Rochdale, just after 5.40pm on Wednesday 21 March.
The 81-year-old woman was given oxygen therapy by fire-fighters at the scene before being taken to Oldham Royal Hospital where she was kept in over night.
Luckily the automatic fire alarm went off before a fire broke out but there was a lot of smoke coming from the pan.
