Three more men charged following death of John Barrett

Three more men have been charged following the fatal stabbing of John Barrett and the assault of another man in a Rochdale nightclub.

Ashaun Townsend, 18, of Woodstock Road, Moston, is charged with murder, violent disorder and grievous bodily harm.

Clarence Edwards, 23, of no fixed address and Anthon Barnett, 22, of West Street, Southport are charged with violent disorder.

All three appeared before Manchester City Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday 21 March 2012 and were remanded in custody.

Tremaine Lee, 18, of Yeovil Street, Moss Side and Derico Smith, 19, of Brentnor Road, New Moston, were previously charged with murder, violent disorder and causing grievous bodily harm and appeared before Manchester City Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday 21 March 2012.

Both were remanded in custody.

Last week, eight people were charged and remanded in custody following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police into the fatal stabbing bringing the total of those now charged to 13.

At about 2.40am on Sunday 25 December 2011, police were called to Sinclair's Bar on Drake Street, Rochdale, following reports of a large disturbance.

Officers attended and discovered a man had been stabbed.

John Lee Barrett, 31, was taken to hospital but died on Tuesday 27 December 2011.
