Two charged and three arrested following death of John Barrett

Two more men have been charged following the fatal stabbing of John Barrett and the assault of another man in a Rochdale nightclub.

Tremaine Lee, 18, of Yeovil Street, Moss Side, and Derico Smith, 19, of Brentnor Road, New Moston, are charged with murder, violent disorder and causing grievous bodily harm and are due to appear before Manchester City Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Wednesday 21 March 2012).

Today (Tuesday 20 March 2012) a further three men aged 18, 22 and 23 were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.

Last week, eight people were charged and remanded in custody following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police into the fatal stabbing bringing the total of those now charged to ten.

At about 2.40am on Sunday 25 December 2011, police were called to Sinclair's Bar on Drake Street, Rochdale, following reports of a large disturbance.

Officers attended and discovered a man had been stabbed.

John Lee Barrett, 31, was taken to hospital but died on Tuesday 27 December 2011.
