Date published: 19 March 2012
Carers from across the borough have celebrated the official opening of the new The Carers' Resource Centre.
The new home for carers is at Newbold Building, 35-37 Oldham Road, and is split over two levels. It consists of an IT suite, training room, a kitchen as well as rooms for meetings and events.
At the event, Councillors and officers from Rochdale Borough Council and the NHS joined members from The Carers Association; a group run by carers for carers.
Pauline Fardon, Chairwoman of The Carers Association, welcomed everyone to the celebrations of the grand opening.
She said: “This year we are celebrating ten years of The Carers' Resource so it’s wonderful we have this new home. Here’s to a successful future for all working here and to all those who use the facilities.”
Jean Welby, one of the oldest founding members of The Carers Association, said: “Thanks to everyone who gave us this new resource and thanks for keeping this lifeline open for carers across Rochdale. Let’s look forward to another ten years.”
