Work starts on ‘new look’ Middleton Library

Date published: 18 March 2012

Middleton Library will close for refurbishment from Monday 26 March.  The temporary closure is to enable refurbishment and restoration of the historic building which dates back to 1889.

New customer service interview rooms will be created, together with a meeting room for Middleton Township and a staff office. Once the library re-opens this summer it will also be easier to access, complete with an external ramp, internal lift and with a public toilet with disabled access.  Outside there will be improvements made to the car park.

Until the closure, library users will have their loan periods extended, and a temporary library will be available at the nearby Sadler Street Customer Service office building where customers will be able to pick up reservations, drop off and return books. There will be a limited selection of books available.  The temporary library will be open weekdays 9.00am – 4.45pm, and until 3.45pm on Tuesdays.

Library users can also use any other library in the borough, with the nearest being Langley, Alkrington and the Junction Library.
