Support the community from the comfort of your old sofa

Springvale Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in Middleton now accepts donations of unwanted furniture for re-use.

So if you are updating your furniture or thinking of having a spring clean then why not donate your unwanted items by bringing them down to site.

All donated furniture at Springvale is collected by Bulky Bob’s, a charity based in Oldham which is committed to supporting the local community by providing good quality re-usable furniture to families on low incomes.

By donating your furniture you will help reduce the amount of furniture being either recycled or sent to landfill.

And, help others in your local community by providing them with second hand goods

As part of Recycle for Greater Manchester’s (R4GM) commitment to providing a service across Greater Manchester, Springvale HWRC is now the ninth HWRC across Greater Manchester which accepts donations of unwanted furniture for re-use.

The Springvale scheme is delivered in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council and Bulky Bob’s. Existing schemes have diverted over 120 tonnes of furniture since March 2010.

Mike Hart from Bulky Bob’s said: “We are delighted to be working with Recycle for Greater Manchester to ensure that local residents are able to purchase the furniture they need at an affordable price. This venture benefits everyone.”

For a full list of accepted items, visit www.recycleforgreatermanchester.com, collect a leaflet on your next trip to Springvale or contact Bulky Bob’s on 0161 665 0317.

Only clean items in good condition will be accepted.
