Man arrested after driving at police car

A man has been arrested after driving into a police car.
At around 4.25pm on Tuesday (13 March 2012), a police officer witnessed a young child sat on the lap of man driving a van on Manchester Road, Rochdale.
The officer requested the van to stop before the vehicle reversed into the patrol car and drove off.
The vehicle was followed on to Scholes Street, Castleton, before the van again reversed into the police car and drove off.
The officer continued to follow the man before he abandoned the van.
Police ran after him and a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and dangerous driving. He remains in police custody for questioning.
The child in the van was not injured and the officer was treated for whiplash but later released from hospital.
