Give a helping hand to hospice fair

Date published: 06 March 2012

Organisers of the Springhill Hospice Spring Fair are asking that anybody wishing to donate goods should contact them as soon as possible.

Alison McGuigan, Fundraiser at the Hospice, said: “The success of our fairs owes a great deal to the amount of items donated to them and, of course, the quality of those items.

“Last year we raised a phenomenal amount at both our Spring and Christmas Fairs and it never fails to amaze us how the local community really get behind the events.

“We are always looking for raffle or tombola prizes and especially any type of home-bake as that stall is one of the most popular at every Fair.”

“May I remind everybody that changes in legislation have meant that we have had to turn away all second-hand electrical goods. In addition, we have made the decision to decline any books that are badly soiled for health reasons. Having said that, however, if anybody has goods they wish to donate that do not fall into the aforementioned categories, we will be only too happy to receive them.”

The Spring Fair takes place at the Hospice on Sunday 1 April from 10.00am until 3.00pm.

Entry to the fair is free and the Hospice will be running a free park & ride facility from Balderstone High School for the duration of the fair.

Anybody wishing to donate goods should take them direct to the Hospice on Broad Lane, or contact the Fundraising Office on 01706 649920 to arrange a convenient time for collection.
