Bishop opens refurbished primary school

A new classroom at Little Heaton
Staff and pupils at Little Heaton CE Primary School are brimming with excitement this week as the Bishop of Middleton, The Right Reverend Mark Davies, has conducted a blessing to officially open their newly refurbished school.
Little Heaton CE Primary in Rhodes, has undergone a £1.1 million transformation which saw the old school building remodelled to create modern, flexible learning spaces allowing a variety of teaching styles.
The eight month programme, project managed by Rochdale Borough Council and Impact Partnership, included fitting all of the refurbished classrooms with interactive white boards, craft sinks, cloak areas, dedicated new toilets and access to play areas.
The school canteen has also been replaced by a new production kitchen where fresh, nutritious meals are now made and served every day.
Headteacher Lindsay Addington, said: “The children are enjoying their new building and were initially amazed by the changes there had been.”
