Alicia France's self-portrait
A talented Rochdale Sixth Form College art student has seen her self-portrait go on display at a top London art gallery, as part of the Ruth Bouchard Self Portrait competition.
Alicia France beat off 250 other entrants to win a spot in the prestigious exhibition at The Kings Place Gallery in London.
The accomplished A Level student, who has applied to study Fine Art at University, used the skills and techniques she learned during the oil painting module of her Art course, to create the impressive self-portrait which caught the eye of the judging panel.
Miss France said: “I was so pleased when I heard the news that my self-portrait was going to be featured in this exhibition, particularly since the number of entrants was so high.
“Hopefully it won’t be the last piece of my work which is displayed in an exhibition.”
Stephanie Green, Art Teacher at Rochdale Sixth Form College, added: “I’m really proud that Alicia has received outside recognition for her artistic talents, by being featured in this prestigious art exhibition.
“I have every confidence that she will go on to excel in her Fine Art degree course and create other remarkable works of art like this one.”
