Fair-trade Fortnight:
Fair-trade Fortnight is this week and next week. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday of both weeks we are holding a Fair-trade Café in the dining room.
We are holding a competition for each class – children need to send in any fair-trade wrappers. The winning class will receive a fair-trade prize.
Some of our children went to the Town Hall for a tea party with a Kenyon tea farmer on Tuesday.
Parent’s Evening:
Parents Evening for the whole school is next Tuesday, 6th March 2.30-5.30pm. It is really important that you attend these meetings to discuss your child’s targets and progress.
Assembly:
There is a ‘Thank You’ assembly on Monday for the shoe box appeal. We collected 103 boxes which went to children in Russia.
Bike It – Thursdays:
Bike-It will start again next Thursday 8 March. Anyone coming to school on their bike or scooter will be given a free raffle ticket to go in the draw for a new bike at the end of the year. Those children who come on their bikes on a Thursday can have a free breakfast as long as they are in no later than 8.30am.
If they come on their bike any other day they will be given a raffle ticket but free breakfasts will only be given on a Thursday.
Eco News:
Well done to those children who have brought Birdfeeders – they were fantastic. We had 145 entries and each child received an eco pencil.
The winners each received a recycled pencil case:
Noah Irvine-Blasberg RP; Esme Mills RD; Kyden Horrocks 1B; Rhiannon Thompson 1G; Jessica Slack 2D; Kelli Dunne 2B; Jacob Coburn 3P; Maisey Trainor 3L; Jack Mountain 4P; Lucy Grogan 5S; Kyle Pollitt 5F and Leah Harrison 6C. Well done.
Rochdale Football Club:
Due to the school closures this week, we have had to reschedule the Rochdale Football Club sessions.
Get Your Child’s Hair Cut and Help to Raise Money for School:
If any child from our school has their hair cut at Regalia Hair on Manchester Road, the owner Ruth has generously offered to donate all the takings to school funds. Cuts are £5 for 1 child; £8 for 2 children; £12 for 3 children and £18 for 4 children. If you would like to book an appointment, phone Ruth on 346347.
Let’s Get Cooking – Big Cookathon:
This year’s Cookathon is next Thursday 8th March. Every child in school will be cooking throughout the day. Any parents or grandparents wishing to come into school to help are most welcome – please contact the office. This is a national competition with a chance of winning a share in the prize money of £5,000 so extra support will help us.
Dinner Money:
Lunches are now £1.80 per day - £9.00 per week. Please send money on a Monday, in an envelope with your child’s name and class on.
There is a copy of the menus on our school portal. Next week we are on Week 2.
