Everyone has really enjoyed preparing for and participating in National Book Day this week. Everyone looked amazing on Thursday and there was some great talk for writing going on about the characters throughout the day.

Reception class have been making a forest for Little Red Riding Hood and enjoying role play and making puppets to re tell the story.

Year 1 have been re telling and role playing different Fairy Tales.

Year 2 have been finding out about Night and Day and practising 2,5 and 10 times tables.

Year 3 have enjoyed several great activities away from the classroom this week. Some children went to Rochdale College restaurant kitchen to help prepare some Fairtrade Recipes for the Lunch Time menu. Another group of children attended a Fairtrade Tea Party in the Town Hall and another group attended a day Retreat with St Patrick’s pupils in Manchester. This is part of their preparation to receive the Sacraments later this year.

Year 4 have laid the foundation for their class igloo….parents ask your children what this is all about.

Year 3 and 4 both did magnificent performances at the Rochdale Festival this week.

Year 5 have been creating Ancient Egyptian homes, made from mud and researching an excavation from ancient times. They had a very successful session with community officers from the Police and Housing Association as part of their project with RBH

Year 6 have been making Aztec masks and listening to Aztec music. In Science they have been studying Micro Organisms that are good for the human body.

Alice Ingham SAMBA band made a great noise when they performed at the Rochdale Music Festival on Saturday. A big thank to all our parents who made sure that the children attended and to the staff who supported the afternoon.

A big congratulations to Year 3 last week on their 100 per cent attendance . Every class did really well resulting in a whole school average attendance of 97 per cent. Thank you to all our families for getting your children into school every day on time.

Our parents/carers and families are invited to a Coffee Afternoon on Tuesday 6 March at 2.30pm. There will be a Fairtrade shop available and advice and freebies on offer. Please do try to drop in, if only for a few minutes. You will be made to feel very welcome.
