Many thanks to all the adults and young people who came along to our recent 'Bird Feeder Making Workshop' on Saturday 25 February from 9.00am until 12 noon. The group got to build a great wooden bird feeder using a range of technology equipment and stain the final product. Each member of the workshop got to take their feeder home for the local wildlife to enjoy. Thanks to all the local community who came along.
Many thanks to Meanwood Primary School pupils who joined us this week for our 'Fabulous Fact and Fiction' Workshop here in our great school library. Learners enjoyed a fiction and non-fiction learning trail and a range of other games and activities. Each learner also left with a fun pack of resources and activities.
We wish good luck to our Music Students as they participate in the Rochdale Festival of Music, Speech and dance this year. Our learners have been busy rehearsing in readiness for the events and we wish them every success. We would also like to thank Shawclough Community Primary School learners who have been busy rehearsing with our very own Windband in the last few weeks.
Tickets and wristbands for our forthcoming Music Concert are now available from school. The concert takes place on the 20th of March from 6pm until 8pm and tickets are available from Ms Williams or Mr De Courcey in the CEPA Office at breaktimes, lunchtimes or after school. Seating is limited and are taken on a 'first come, first served' basis. Book now to avoid disappointment! The show will feature a range of performances from the various groups, bands and individuals across our school and the local community. Pupils wristbands can be purchased from Mrs Williams at lunchtimes.
There are still places left for our 'Italian Cookery for Beginners' workshop at the end of March. This event is for adults or parents and places can be booked by contacting Simon De Courcey in school. We hope you can join us for what should be a great event.
Our GCSE Art students commence their Art exam next week which will then continue through until after the Easter holidays. We wish our Art students good luck and ask that they come prepared for their sessions. Please contact Mr Walker if you would like more details about the exam process and what is expected from your child.
Our 'Woman In Black' Theatre Poster Competition continues and closes on Friday 9th of March. We have been delighted by the standard of entries so far and we look forward to receiving many more entries in the next week. The judge will select three winners from the entrants and each winner will receive a certificate and a great prize.
Well done to Sunni Wilson, Crystal Campbell, Leoni Hey and Amy Chadwick who participated in the Rochdale Borough Transition Event this week. The four dancers led an impressive set of dances in front of a two hundred strong audience and were rewarded with great applause. The four students were a great credit to our school once again.
This week FPHS launches a new borough wide Photographic Competition aimed at people of all ages. There will be several categories and the theme for your photographic entries is 'Change'. The Competition is open to anyone living in Rochdale or Whitworth and there are several amounts of prize money up for grabs. See our school website at www.falingepark.com for more details.
We have had so many learners achieve individual success stories recently that we have decided to create a 'Success Stories' Newsletter. Paper copies will be available from school in the next week or can be downloaded from our school website.
