Horse rescued from Rochdale river

A horse was rescued by fire crews after becoming stuck in a river in Rochdale.
Three crews from Rochdale and Heywood were called at 3.55pm on Saturday (25 February), to fields off Eafield Road near to Albert Royds Street in the Belfield area.
A group of people, some of them very distressed had gathered around the animal.
Using strops and horse rescue gear crews were able to free the young mare from the slow flowing water uninjured.
The rescue took 45 minutes.
