Date published: 25 February 2012

Primary school children in Castleton have taken part in a ‘Chatterbox Challenge.’

The youngsters, from Castleton Primary School, participated in the event, organised by ICAN, the charity which promotes the importance of good communication and helps to support children with speech and language difficulties.

Sixty children, from Nursery and Reception classes plus those from Castleton Children’s Centre, joined in the school to entertain parents by singing fun and lively songs.

In a bid to promote the importance of speech, language and communication, they youngsters performed eight songs – and some of the parents joined in too!

Barry Cook, Teacher in charge of the specialist speech and language resource at Castleton Primary School, said: “It was a lovely event.

“Everyone enjoyed it and it helped to emphasise the importance of good communication in a fun and interactive way.”

At the end of the event a collection was made and £45 was raised for ICAN.
