Years 5/6 Swimming Training:
Year 5/6 swimming training is on Friday mornings. Please meet at Castleton baths at 8.30am.

Street Dance:
Street Dance for KS2 starts on Tuesday28th February - £15. There are still some places – please pick up a form from the school office.

Eco News:
Well done to those children who have brought Birdfeeders in so far – they all look fantastic. There will be a prize for everyone who enters and 3 bigger prizes for the most creative designs.
On Thursday some of our Year 3 children held a video conference with a Spanish School. We have been designing recycling posters which we have exchanged with the Spanish School. Each school will be picking a winner and will be giving a prize for the winner. Children will also receive Certificates. We will announce the winners on next week’s newsletter.

Fair-trade Fortnight:
Fair-trade Fortnight starts On Monday. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday of both weeks we are holding a Fair-trade Café in the dining room.
We are holding a competition for each class – children need to send in any fair-trade wrappers. The winning class will receive a fair-trade prize.
Some of our children are going to the Town Hall for a tea party with a Kenyon tea farmer on Tuesday.

Robinwood:
A reminder that the trip is coming up so please send any outstanding money into school. Thank you.
Rochdale Football Club:
Next week Rochdale Football Club are in school doing football skills with the children finishing with a Penalty Shoot Out on Thursday 1st March. This is a joint fundraiser for school and football in the community. There will be the following prizes for sponsor money raised:
£10 raised – Rochdale Goody Bag
£15 raised – Family tickets to a Rochdale Saturday Home Game (2 adults/2 juniors)
£20 raised – Autographed Rochdale AFC Football.
All money raised needs to be returned to class teachers before Friday 16th March, 2012.
Sponsor forms are on the back of the newsletter.

World Book Day:
Thursday is World Book Day. Children will each receive at £1 book token which can be used at local book shops to either buy one free ‘World Book Day’ book - 8 fantastic titles to choose from OR £1 off any book or audio book priced £2.99 or more.

Dinner Money:
Lunches are now £1.80 per day - £9.00 per week. Please send money on a Monday, in an envelope with your child’s name and class on.
There is a copy of the menus on our school portal. Next week we are on Week 1.

Let’s Get Cooking – Big Cookathon:
After last year’s successful Cookathon, we will be joining in this years on Thursday 8th March. Every child in school will be cooking throughout the day. Any parents or grandparents wishing to come into school to help are most welcome. Please contact the office.

Music Lessons:
Fees for this half term are now due. Lessons are £2.85 per week. Fees must be paid weekly in order for lessons to continue. Please also send any outstanding music fees into school as soon as possible. Thank you.

Get Your Child’s Hair Cut and Help to Raise Money for School:
If any child from our school has their hair cut at Regalia Hair on Manchester Road, the owner Ruth has generously offered to donate all the takings to school funds. Cuts are £5 for 1 child; £8 for 2 children; £12 for 3 children and £18 for 4 children. If you would like to book an appointment, phone Ruth on 346347.

Castleton Children’s Centre:
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s on Wednesday mornings 9.30am-10.30am. Please come along and join us. You will be made very welcome.

Sainsbury Vouchers:
We are now collecting these vouchers.
