Oulder Hill Community School
Welcome back – we hope you all had a happy and relaxing half-term break. We would like to thank all parents and carers of Year 9 students who were able to attend Year 9 Parents’ Evening on Thursday 23 February for coming on the evening to support your children – it was great to see such a fantastic turn out. Please could we also remind you that completed Year 9 Options Forms should be returned via your child to their form tutor by Monday 27 February.
We would also like to remind parents and carers of Year 11 students that some important GCSE exams are coming up. These start on Thursday 1 March with a Science exam, followed by the two GCSE Maths exams on Friday 2 and Monday 5 March. Please check whether your child is sitting any of these papers, and where possible please support them with their preparations – this could include revising with them, discussing their work with them or simply helping them to find some quiet time and a suitable location.
On Friday 10 February, 37 Year 11 History students attended a revision workshop at the Imperial War Museum North, at Salford Quays. Students watched several “Big Picture” shows and were able to examine the exhibits to help with their understanding of the “Impact of War” exam unit, ready for their exam in June. The students worked so hard and were a credit to the school. They also came away with lots of extra details from the sources they found, which can be incorporated into their work.
The WW1 Day with Jason King has had to be rearranged and will now take place on Friday 9 March.
The school is now using Parentmail2 as their electronic communication system. All students should have brought a letter home regarding registration for this, if you have not received this letter, please contact the school.
