Teenager set himself on fire

A teenager has been taken to hospital with 30 per cent burns.
Emergency services were called to Hopwood Service Station on Rochdale Road, Middleton, following reports of a person on fire, shortly before 11.00am today (Tuesday 21 February).
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police, said: “At around 10.45am on Tuesday 21 February 2012, police were called to Rochdale Road, Middleton following reports a man had poured petrol and set themselves [sic] on fire.
“The man, believed to be in his late teens, was taken to hospital and is currently in a serious but stable condition.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance service said they were called to the scene at 10.38am and that a 17-year-old male has been taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital suffering from 30 per cent burns.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said that fire-fighters attended and assisted the ambulance service.
