Children at the cohesion event
Children from nurseries and children’s centres have joined together to celebrate diversity as part of a cohesion event.
A tea party, organised by Little Gems Nursery, involved more than 40 children, who were entertained by ‘Uncle Chris’ at the Kashmir Youth Project on Belfield Road.
Toseeba Bi, Acting Little Gems Nursery Manager, was thrilled with the turnout.
She said: “The interest and support from local nurseries was amazing with more than eight nurseries and children centre’s supporting the event including Seeros nursery, Heybrook, Hamer and Belfield Children’s Centres.”
KYP’s Chief Executive Abdul Hamied, added: “The under fives cohesion event was specifically arranged to bring children and nursery staff from different nurseries and communities together to promote interaction and joined-up working to promote good practice and celebrate diversity.
“Little Gems staff organised a brilliant event. The children, parents and staff from other local nurseries and children’s centres played their part in making the event an even greater success.”
Beverley Maguire from Belfield Children Centre said: “The event provided an excellent opportunity to bring young children and local nursery staff together to have fun whilst promoting interaction, engagement and understanding. We should do this again.”
The under 5’s cohesion event was funded by Central ward Councillors from the local ward fund to support and promote community engagement and cohesion.
