School has been increasing awareness over the last two weeks as it was Safer Internet Day on 7 Feb 2012. We would like to encourage parents to find out more by visiting www.thinkuknow.co.uk and www.saferinternet.org.uk. These sites offer useful information about some of the most important issues related to popular devices, highlighting the safety tools available and empowering parents with the knowledge you need to support your children to be safe and responsible.
Well done to all the students who attended this weeks ‘Oliver’ Palace Theatre visit in Manchester. A great evening was enjoyed by students and staff alike! If you were unable to go on this visit because it was full but would like to join us for an evening out at the theatre, why not see Ms Wystawnoha about her forthcoming ‘Endgame’ Dance visit. Letters are available from the CEPA office.
The CEPA Faculty has issued a new booklet titled ‘the World Needs Creative People: A Guide To Careers Within The Arts’ which has been posted in the Music, Drama, Dance and Art Departments for students to read or browse. Please see Mr. DeCourcey for more details.
A new CEPA Faculty Competition has been launched to tie in with the release of the big budget movie adaptation of the famous stage play ‘The Woman In Black’. The competition is open to all years and closes on Friday the 9th March. Students have been asked to create a theatre poster of the terrifying drama on the special entry forms that are available from Community Tutors or from Mr DeCourcey in the CEPA office. Electronic versions are available via our school website as per usual.
G5 have been busy working on a special short film for the Greater Manchester Short Film Competition. Their entry focuses on this years’ Olympics and promises to be an entertaining watch when finished. At the moment learners are storyboarding their work in preparation for filming. Over the next few weeks, filming will commence. Well done to all the students involved so far!
