Police across the Rochdale borough have had some favourable feedback from the public.
Of the 1,964 people randomly surveyed by PCSOs during 2011, just five per cent said they felt there were high levels of antisocial behaviour compared to 11 per cent during 2010.
Nearly 11 per cent perceived drug-related crime as being a problem, down from 25 per cent the previous year, and 88 per cent of those questioned believe police are doing a good job compared to 74 per cent in 2010.
In addition, 94 per cent said they have confidence in the police, up 11 per cent on the previous year, and 89 per cent think police are dealing with the issues that matter, up from 76 per cent.
When asked if they felt they could influence local policing priorities, 63 per cent said yes compared to 43 per cent in 2010, and 73 per cent agreed that the police and council are dealing with crime and antisocial behaviour effectively, up by 12 per cent.
Superintendent Chris Hankinson of Greater Manchester Police, Rochdale Division, said: “We have been working very closely with the council, housing authority and other partners to address local concerns, and it is encouraging that the latest survey results reflect this.
“Positive feedback like this is really heartening, and shows that we are responding to the issues that matter to people.
“We will continue to do all we can to make the borough an even safer and more pleasant place to live, work and visit.”
