Body of man found

Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was found in Middleton.

Just after 1.45pm today (Friday 3 February), police were called following reports a man had been assaulted at a house on Lower Bamford Close, Middleton.

On arrival, officers discovered the body of a man.

He had suffered serious head injuries and the man has not yet been identified.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Melani Linton from Rochdale CID said: “Understandably members of the community will be shocked to hear about this incident but I can reassure them we have made two arrests. The investigation still remains in its infancy and we are working on establishing the full circumstances leading up to the man’s death.”
